circa 1902 DI-DION Motorcycle

Mudgee, NSW
Australia

This De Dion is one of the few surviving De Dion motorised bicycles (motor #6). This bike was on display in the famous Pierre Guelon collection in France from the 1970’s through to the early 2000's where it transferred to the Mullen Museum in California until purchase recently and imported to Australia. Originally dated as circa 1902, more research reveals that is more like circa 1900.

Presented in original unrestored condition, this a unique opportunity to purchase a motor cycle from the dawn of the motoring industry As sales of the famous De Dion Tricycle & Quadricycles declined De Dion utilized the surplus motors and fitted them to their bicycle frames, however car and proprietary motor production far out stripped motor bicycle sales and the motor bicycle was short lived.
